Tune voice speed and pronunciations
Set how fast SAMI speaks on calls and fix mispronounced street or brand names with pronunciation overrides.
How SAMI sounds on a call shapes how callers feel about your team. You can dial in her speaking pace and teach her how to say tricky words right inside your bot's editor.
Where to find these controls
Open SAMI Bots, pick the bot you want to adjust, and go to the Voice & transfer section of the editor. Voice speed and pronunciation overrides both live here, alongside your call transfer settings.
SAMI's actual voice is fixed in v1 — every bot uses the same calibrated SAMI brand voice, so there's no voice picker to choose from. Callback hours are also fixed at 8am–8pm in your organization's timezone. What you can tune is her speed and pronunciations.
Set SAMI's speaking speed
Speed is a simple three-way choice. Pick the pace that fits how your callers expect to be greeted.
Open the Voice block
In the Voice & transfer section, find the Voice block and its Speed control.
Choose a pace
Select one of three presets: Slower (calm and deliberate), Medium (a natural pace), or Fast (energetic). Medium is the default for most bots.
Save the bot
Your choice applies on the next call once you save. There's nothing else to configure — expressiveness is pre-tuned to sound natural at every speed.
Fix mispronounced words
If SAMI consistently butchers a street name, neighborhood, or brand, add a pronunciation override so she says it correctly every time.
Add an override
In the Pronunciation overrides block, click Add pronunciation. A new row appears.
Enter the word
In the first field, type the word exactly as it appears in your scripts or messages — for example, a street like
Lujanor a brand likeCompass.Spell out how to say it
In the second field, write how the word should sound. Then pick the spelling system from the dropdown: Phonetic (plain respelling, like
loo-HAHN) or IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet, likeluˈxan).Save and test
Save the bot, then place a test call to confirm SAMI says it the way you expect. Add more rows for any other words she gets wrong.
Phonetic respelling is the easiest place to start — sound the word out in syllables with the stressed part in caps. Reach for IPA only when you need exact control over a vowel or consonant that plain respelling can't capture.
These same delivery controls sit next to your handoff rules, so once your voice sounds right you can move straight on to setting up call transfers. To review the rest of the editor, see the full SAMI Bots tour.
