Creating a new deal

Add a new deal to your Pipeline with the quick New Deal modal or the full New Deal page.

Every transaction you track lives as a deal in your Pipeline. You can add one in seconds from the board, or open the full form when you want to capture price, commission, and dates up front.

Quick add from the Pipeline

The fastest way to start a deal is right from the board. Open your Pipeline and click New Deal in the top corner to open the quick modal.

  1. Open the New Deal modal

On the Pipeline, click New Deal. A short form slides in over the board.

  2. Name the deal

Type a Deal Name — this is the only required field. A pattern like "Sarah Chen — 1200 Congress Ave" keeps your board easy to scan.

  3. Choose the pipeline and contact

Pick the Pipeline the deal belongs to, then link a Contact if you have one (or leave it as "No contact" for now). You can add a Sale Price here too.

  4. Create it

Click Create Deal. The deal drops into the first stage of the pipeline you chose, and the board refreshes so you can see it right away.

The quick modal always lands a new deal in the first stage of its pipeline. Drag the card to the right column once it's created, or use the full form below to set a different stage from the start.

Add a full deal from the New Deal page

When you already know the numbers, open the full New Deal page for every field in one place.

  1. Set the pipeline and stage

Choose a Pipeline (or "No pipeline"). When a pipeline has stages, a Stage selector appears so you can place the deal exactly where it belongs.

  2. Pick a contact

Select a Contact from the dropdown. Choosing one auto-fills the Deal Name with the contact's name, which you can edit to add a property or anything else.

  3. Choose a transaction type

Set the Transaction Type — Purchase, Listing, Lease, or Referral — so your reporting and workflows know what kind of deal this is.

  4. Add financials and a close date

Enter a Sale Price ($), a Commission Rate (%), and a Projected Close Date. Leave any blank and fill them in later.

  5. Add notes and save

Drop any context in the Notes field, then click Create Deal. SAMI OS opens the new deal's detail page so you can keep working.

What happens after you create a deal

Creating a deal does more than add a card. SAMI OS logs a "Deal created" entry on the linked contact's activity timeline, so the new opportunity shows up in Contacts alongside calls, texts, and emails.

When a deal has a contact attached, it also fires the deal.created trigger. Any matching automation in Workflows — a welcome sequence, an internal task, a notification — kicks off automatically.

Workflow triggers and the contact activity entry only run when a deal is linked to a contact. Add a contact to a new deal whenever you can so your automations and reporting stay complete.
