Set up billing and track usage
Set up Stripe billing, monitor usage-based costs, and manage your payment method on the owner-only Billing page.
SAMI OS uses usage-based billing through Stripe, so you only pay for what your team actually uses across AI, SMS, voice, and phone numbers. This article walks owners through setting up billing, reading the status banner, and tracking spend.
Set up billing
Billing lives on the Billing page. Only organization owners can open it — everyone else sees an owner-only notice instead.
Open the Billing page
Head to Settings → Billing. If billing isn't connected yet, you'll see a "Billing not set up" banner.
Start setup
Click Set up billing. SAMI OS creates your Stripe customer and redirects you to Stripe to add a payment method. If an existing customer is detected, the banner notes that and continues you to the portal to reactivate instead.
Confirm in Stripe
Enter your card details in Stripe's secure checkout. Once confirmed, you're returned to the Billing page and the banner switches to "Billing active."
Billing is owner-only. If you're an admin or agent and need access, ask an owner to set it up or adjust your role under Members.
Read the status banner
The banner at the top of the Billing page tells you where your account stands:
- Billing active — billing is set up and usage is being tracked. A Manage billing button opens the Stripe portal.
- Past due — your last payment failed. Use Manage billing to update your payment method before service is interrupted.
- Billing not set up — no payment method is connected yet. Use Set up billing to get started.
Manage billing opens the Stripe billing portal, where you can update your card, view invoices, and review payment history.
Review usage and pricing
The Current period usage section breaks down everything captured so far in the active billing window:
- AI tokens — tokens consumed by SAMI and your SAMI Bots, shown per 1K tokens.
- SMS sent and SMS received — outbound and inbound text messages.
- Voice — call minutes used.
Each line shows its quantity and estimated cost, with an Estimated total and the period dates at the bottom. If nothing has been used yet, you'll see "No usage recorded this period yet."
The Pricing section lists per-unit rates, all billed monthly via Stripe: AI tokens at $8.00 per 1M tokens, outbound SMS at $0.0079 each, inbound SMS at $0.0075 each, voice at $0.014 per minute, and phone numbers at $1.15 per month each.
Phone numbers add a recurring monthly charge. Review what you own under Phone before adding more, and release any you no longer need.
