Using Think and Deep Search modes
Turn on Think and Deep Search to help SAMI reason through harder requests and search more thoroughly before answering.
When a request is harder than a quick question, two toggles in the SAMI chat input let you dial up how carefully SAMI works: Think for deeper reasoning and Deep Search for a more thorough look across your data.
Where to find the controls
Open SAMI from Chat or the chat widget, then click into the message box. Once the input is active or you've started typing, two controls appear below it:
- Think — the lightbulb button. Toggling it on turns on extended reasoning so SAMI works through multi-step requests step by step before replying.
- Deep Search — the globe button. Toggling it on broadens how thoroughly SAMI searches your contacts, deals, and history before answering.
Click either control to turn it on; it highlights to show it's active. Click again to turn it off. Both stay off by default so everyday questions stay fast.
The controls only show after you click into the input. If you just see the empty prompt, tap the box first and they'll slide in.
When to turn each one on
Leave both off for quick asks
For simple lookups — "What's this contact's phone number?" or "Draft a quick text" — skip both toggles. SAMI answers fastest with nothing turned on.
Turn on Think for multi-step work
Turn on Deep Search for thorough answers
Flip on Deep Search when the answer depends on combing through a lot of data — summarizing every interaction with a contact, surfacing stale deals, or pulling themes from your Contacts.
Combine them for the hardest requests
For a tough analytical ask — like a written summary of how your Analytics trends connect to specific leads — turn on both so SAMI searches widely and reasons carefully.
Think and Deep Search take a little longer because SAMI is doing more work. If you don't need the extra depth, leave them off and you'll get answers sooner.
What stays the same
Turning these modes on doesn't change what SAMI can do — only how much effort it puts in before responding. You still ask in plain language, and SAMI can still take action for you, like updating a contact or kicking off a SAMI Bots outreach. The toggles simply trade a little speed for more careful, well-researched answers when the task calls for it.
