Get started with the calendar and appointments
Learn how the Calendar and Appointments pages work together to manage your schedule in SAMI OS.
SAMI OS keeps your whole schedule in one place. This guide explains how the Calendar and Appointments pages fit together so you always know where to look — and where to add what's next.
Two views of your schedule
Both pages sit under the Schedule header you'll see at the top of each one. They draw from the same data but answer different questions.
- The Calendar shows a month grid that combines your appointments and your tasks. Each day cell lists what's happening, so you can scan the month at a glance and spot a busy week or a free afternoon.
- The Appointments page is a dedicated list of every scheduled appointment — showings, consults, inspections, and follow-ups — sorted with the most recent first. Use it when you want detail rather than a calendar overview.
The Calendar pulls in tasks too, while the Appointments page shows appointments only. If something is on your task list but not your calendar, check that it has a due date — only dated tasks appear on the grid.
Appointments vs. tasks
SAMI OS schedules two kinds of items, and knowing the difference makes everything else click.
- An appointment is a timed event. It has a start and end time, an optional location, and a type such as Showing, Open House, Listing Presentation, Buyer Consultation, Inspection, Closing, or Meeting. You can also record an outcome later — Completed, Cancelled, No Show, or Rescheduled.
- A task is a dated to-do. It has a due date and a priority (Low, Medium, High, or Urgent), and you check it off when it's done. Tasks live on the Tasks page and surface on the Calendar on their due date.
On the Calendar, appointments show their start time on the chip, while tasks appear as a simple item you can mark complete from the day panel.
Find your way around
Here's the quickest path through both surfaces when you're starting out.
Open the Calendar
Head to the Calendar. Use the arrows next to the month name to move between months, or click Today to jump back to the current date.
Click a day to see details
Selecting a day opens a side panel listing that day's appointments and tasks. From there you can mark a task complete or use Add to this day to create something new.
Filter what you see
Use the Filter button to toggle Appointments, Tasks, and Completed Tasks on or off, so the grid only shows what you care about.
Add an appointment or task
Click New Event on the Calendar to create either one in a quick dialog — or open the Appointments page and choose New Appointment for the full form.
Linking an appointment or task to a contact keeps it tied to that relationship. Every contact in Contacts shows up in the picker when you create one.
The rest of this category walks through each piece in detail — navigating the month view, creating appointments, and adding events straight from the calendar.
