Create and edit a contact
Add a new lead and fill out the full contact record — fields, lead type, phones, and more.
Every relationship in SAMI OS lives on a contact record. This guide walks you through adding a new contact and filling out its details so your follow-up, routing, and reporting all have the data they need.
Add a new contact
The fastest way to create a contact is the New Contact button at the top of your Contacts list.
Open the New Contact form
From Contacts, click New Contact in the top right. A short form opens.
Enter the basics
Add a First Name (required), plus Last Name, Email, and Phone. You can leave the optional fields blank and add them later on the record.
Set the type and source
Choose a Type — Buyer, Seller, or Both — and type a Source such as Zillow or Referral. As you type the source, SAMI suggests values you've used before so your reporting stays consistent.
Add tags (optional)
Type a tag and press Enter to attach it. Tags are reusable labels you can later filter and segment on.
Create the contact
Click Create Contact. The new record opens, ready for you to fill in the rest of the details.
Only First Name is required. Adding at least one phone or email up front means SAMI can start texting, calling, and emailing right away.
Edit fields on the record
Open any contact from Contacts to see the detail sidebar. Fields are grouped into three sections so the important ones stay close at hand.
- Contact — phone numbers, email addresses, Mailing Address, Type, Source, assignment, and Tags. A collapsible Contact Permissions area holds the Can Text, Can Call, Can Email, and Do Not Contact toggles.
- Real Estate — buyer and seller details like Minimum Price, Maximum Price, Timeframe (Immediately through 12+ Months), Minimum Beds, and Minimum Baths.
- Notes and Details — free-text Background and Notes, social links, and any custom fields your team has set up.
Editing is inline: click a field's value, type or pick the new value, and it saves on its own. Select fields like Type, Timeframe, and Preferred Contact Method (Phone, Email, or Text) open a dropdown. Toggle fields like Do Not Contact flip between Yes and No with a single click.
Edit phones and emails
In the Contact section, click the pencil next to phone numbers or email addresses. Add as many as you need, label each one (mobile, home, work), and remove any that are wrong, then Save.
Set the mailing address
Click Mailing Address to enter street, city, state, and ZIP in one editor.
Add more fields
Use the add control on a section header to surface fields that aren't shown yet, such as price range or beds and baths for a buyer.
Once a record is complete, that contact is ready to flow through assignment, your Pipeline, and any automations you've built.
