Log notes, texts, emails, and calls on the timeline

Use the contact timeline and activity composer to log notes, send texts and emails, and review calls in one place.

Every contact record keeps a running history of your relationship. The timeline shows notes, texts, emails, and calls in order, and the activity composer is where you add new ones without leaving the page.

Read the timeline

Open any contact from Contacts and the timeline fills the activity column, newest first. Items are grouped by day, and a "Show more activity" button loads older entries as you scroll.

Across the top are filter chips, each with a live count so you can see what you have at a glance:

  • All — everything, in one chronological feed.
  • Calls — every call placed or received, including SAMI Bot calls.
  • Texts — inbound and outbound SMS, shown as chat bubbles.
  • Email — sent and received mail, with open, click, and bounce badges.
  • Notes — internal notes you and your team logged.
  • Activity — system events like status changes and created tasks.

Tap a chip to narrow the view. If a filter is empty, SAMI tells you the contact has activity in other channels and offers a "Show all" button to jump back.

The timeline refreshes on its own every few seconds. When a teammate sends a text or a reply comes in, it appears without you reloading the page — handy when you're watching for a response.

Log activity with the composer

Four action buttons sit in the contact header: Note, Email, SMS, and Call. The first three open the activity composer above the timeline; Call starts a call right away through the dialer.

  1. Pick what you want to log

Click Note, Email, or SMS in the header. The composer slides open already set to that type. Close it any time with the X in the corner.

  2. Write a note

Choose Note to capture a conversation, objection, or next step. Notes are private context for your team and never go to the contact. Click Save note and it lands on the timeline instantly.

  3. Send a text

Choose SMS, pick the line to text From and the number to send To, type your message, and click Send. You can drop in a saved template first. Texting needs an SMS-enabled line — set one up under Phone Numbers.

  4. Send an email

Choose Email to send from your connected mailbox. Add a subject and body, or click Draft with AI and tell SAMI the tone and key points to draft from. Review, then click Send. Connect Gmail or Outlook in Settings first.

You can also create a follow-up task from the composer — set a title, priority, and due date, then click Create task. It shows up on the timeline and in Tasks.

How calls appear

Calls log themselves. When you place a call with the Call button, a live entry appears immediately and updates as the call connects and ends. Inbound calls and SAMI Bot calls land on the timeline the same way.

Once a call wraps, its entry shows the outcome and duration, and — when available — the recording, AI summary, transcript, and any notes. Filter to Calls to review only this channel, or open SAMI Bots to manage the agents handling automated calls.

If a contact has no history yet, the timeline shows an empty state prompting you to log a note, send a message, or place a call — everything you do from here lands in this feed in order.
